چکیده

The aim of the work was to assess the influence of some non-enzymatic antioxidants (uric acid, blood urea, bilirubin) on the antioxidant status of rat’s organism during the experimental acute haemorrhagic necrotising pancreatitis. The experiment was carried out on male Wistar rats, body weight 280-320 g, which were divided randomly into control and experimental groups. The control group (n=8) underwent laparotomy. The experimental group (n=24) was injected into pancreatic duct with natrium taurocholate to induce acute pancreatitis – according to the Heinkel and Aho method. Total antioxidation status in plasma was assessed according to the Benzie method (FRAP); total bilirubin, urea, and uric acid in plasma were assessed as described elsewhere. These parameters were examined in each group 3 h, 24 h, and 48 h after the experiment started. Simultaneously α-amylase activity (indicator of pancreatitis severity) was assessed in plasma. The obtained results were analysed statistically. Pancreatitis achieved its maximum severity 24 h after the beginning of the experiment and then decreased. After 48 h αamylase activity was only 2 times higher than that in the control group. FRAP maximum was noticed just after 3 h, then became lower and 48 h after the experiment onset its minimal value was 2 times lower than that of the control. Uric acid and bilirubin plasma concentration grew up 24 h after experiment beginning and next decreased. Only plasma urea concentration increased stably to the maximum value which was observed 24 h after the operation and after 48 h only slight decrease in its concentration was noticed. This phenomenon may be the result of parenchymatous organs damage occurring in acute haemorrhagic necrotising pancreatitis. It leads to interlobular and periadenous tissue necrosis as a consequence of lipid peroxidation. The obtained results showed the booster effect of non-enzymatic antioxidant agents on total antioxidant status during experimental pancreatitis. This effect correlated with pancreatitis severity which was evidenced by an increased αamylase activity in plasma.

Effect of Diclofenac Suppository on Treatment of Acute Biliary Pancreatitis

Background and Aim: Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory pancreatic disease that is associated with low or no fibrosis of the pancreas. Standard non-surgical treatment in all patients involves correcting water and electrolyte disorders, pain relief and avoiding pancreatic secretion. Given that pancreatitis is an inflammatory process, and NSAIDs have been shown to modulate inflammatory processe...

Familial hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute necrotizing pancreatitis: A case report

Acutepancreatitis can infrequently be a life-threatening complication of hypertriglyceridemia. Rarely, hypertriglyceridemia can originate from an inborn genetic error in lipoproteins metabolism. This condition can be manifested by very high serum triglyceride levels (>1000 mg/dl) and a more severe and lethal form of pancreatitis. Here, we present a case of acute pancreatic which was found out t...

Survival after profound hypocalcaemia with tetany complicating severe haemorrhagic acute pancreatitis.

A patient is reported who developed severe haemorrhagic pancreatitis, without hyperamylasemia, which was complicated by gross hypocalcaemia presenting as tetany. Tetany is very uncommon in acute pancreatitis and is a grave prognostic indicator, recovery being exceptionally rare. The mechanisms responsible for disordered calcium homeostasis associated with acute pancreatitis are reviewed. CT sca...

Modulatory influence of Green tea polyphenols on lipid peroxidation during L-Arginine induced acute pancreatitis in Wistar rats

Green tea polyphenols have gained enormous attention as an effective natural herb that is used in most parts of the world and is a rich source of polyphenols, which are antioxidant in nature. Despite medical treatment, the lethality of severe acute pancreatitis is still high (20-30%). Experimental acute necrotizing pancreatitis was induced by intraperitoneal administration of a high dose of L-a...

Zerumbone Attenuates the Severity of Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis and Pancreatitis-Induced Hepatic Injury

This paper investigated the potential effects of zerumbone pretreatment on an acute necrotizing pancreatitis rat model induced by sodium taurocholate. The pancreatitis injury was evaluated by serum AMY, sPLA2, and pancreatic pathological score. Pancreatitis-induced hepatic injury was measured by ALT, AST, and hepatic histopathology. The expression of I-κBα and NF-κB protein was evaluated by wes...
